Id celebrated with fervour

Rajahmundry: Muslims in large number celebrated Ramzan with gaiety and fervour on Wednesday. The main prayer was held at Big Mosque near Azad chowk and Id-ul-Phitr Namaz was held at Ed-gah near Nehrunagar. People from different communities and political parties exchanged wishes with Muslims on the occasion. On Tuesday night Iftar dinners were hosted in different places in the city, attended by Minister for Roads and Buildings Jakkampudi Rammohan Rao, Amalapuram MP GV Harsha Kumar and MLA Rowthu Suryaprakasha Rao.

Kakinada: Thousands of Muslims offered special prayers at the Idga along the Pithapuram road here on Wednesday to mark the celebration of Ramzan. Idga president Jamal Noorani made the required arrangements for the mass prayers. Moulana Abdul Razak Imam of Zamia Mosque conducted the special prayers. Prayers were also held at all the mosques in various parts of the town. K Durrani explained the reasons for celebrating Ramzan a day later than other states. Several prominent Hindus including, Mayor Kavikondala Saroja, visited the Idga and greeted the Muslim brethren on the occasion.
