Samsung launches new printers

NEW DELHI: Samsung India on Wednesday launched its range of colour laser printers (CLP) in India with an eye on 25 per cent share in the domestic laser printer market.

The company has plans to invest around $5 billion globally on its research and development initiatives to double its top-line revenues from $56.7 billion in 2005 to more than $100 billion by 2010.

On the occasion of the launch of company's CLP-300 series desktop and no-noise environment friendly colour laser printers, priced between Rs. 15,990 and Rs. 40,000, Samsung India Vice President (IT Business) Sanjay Sharma said the company was anticipating a 100 per cent growth in the global printers market. It was also hoping that the printers along with LCD monitors would contribute a major portion of the revenues from the IT business, he added.

Samsung has an 18 per cent share in the domestic market for printers and is targeting sales of around 1.10 lakh units this fiscal, and this would increase its share to 25 per cent.

The CLP-300 series would provide customers high-quality output quickly and affordably, Vikram Negi, Senior Manager (Printer Business), Samsung Information Technology Division, said.
