BANGALORE: Despite increased cost of raw materials by two percentage points, TVS Motor Company has been able to protect its underlying profitability, and the profit before tax for the second quarter stood at Rs. 36.25 crore against Rs. 36.60 crore in the year-ago period, excluding a one-off DEPB target plus incentive of Rs. 9.70 crores. Announcing the results here on Wednesday, K. N. Radhakrishnan, President, said the company recorded a growth of 33.5 per cent with a turnover of Rs. 1,088.75 crore as compared to Rs. 815.36 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The company has declared an interim dividend of 70 paise per share absorbing a sum of Rs. 16.63 crore. He said the company would launch a variant each in Apache and StaR City ES (electric start motorcycle in 100cc) brands. As for the Rs. 100 crore three-wheeler project coming up in Himachal Pradesh, Mr. Radhakrishnan said, "it is on course". On its foray into Indonesia, he said the plant was ready and the product (100 to 125 cc motorcycle) is getting tested.
