"HA! HA! HA!": Festival of French films
NEW DELHI: Cinema lovers can treat themselves to a spectacular nine-day festival of French comedy films here in the Capital. For those interested in watching French movies that tickle the funny bone, 72 Lodhi Estate will be the place to be in from this coming Friday. Titled "Ha! Ha! Ha! A Festival of Comedy Films", the one-of-its-kind festival organised by the Embassy of France and Alliance Francaise de Delhi in collaboration with the Federation of Film Societies of India will screen a selection of eight outstanding French feature films up to November 4. A 1978 film titled "Les Bronzes" ("French Fried Vacation") about a group of 20 vacationers who arrive on the shores of Africa will be screened on Friday. Francis Veber's "La Chevre" ("The Goat") in which an important chief executive officer's daughter gets kidnapped in Mexico and her father hires a private detective to find her will be shown on Saturday. "Le Pere Noel Est Une Ordure" ("Santa Claus Is A Louse"), which is directed by Jean-Marie Poire and has a star-studded cast, will be screened on October 30. Another movie made by Jean-Marie Poire titled "Les Visiteurs" that was released in the early 1990s will be shown the following day. Then "Gazon Maudit" ("French Twist"), which is about a happily married couple living a conventional life in a small village in France, will humour the audiences on November 1. Albert Dupontel's film "Bernie" that is about a 30-year-old man, who after leaving an orphanage wants to find out where he came from, will be the next to be screened on November 2. Another film with several leading actors, "Liberte-Oleron" ("Freedom-Oleron"), directed by Bruno Podalydes will be shown on November 3. Thereafter Asterix lovers will be in for a scintillating treat as "Asterix Et Obelix: Mission Cleopatre" (Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra"), in which the Queen of Egypt, Cleopatra, decides to build a magnificent palace in three months in the middle of the desert, will be screened on November 4, bringing the curtain down on the festival.
