Civic body's zonal office housed in illegal structure

HUBLI: It was pointed out to Manivannan, Commissioner of Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, on Wednesday that a zonal office of the civic body is housed in a commercial building that does not hold a completion certificate.

He was attending a press conference called to announce the list of commercial buildings with an area of 2,000 sq. ft. and above that did not have completion certificates and building permits. One of the presspersons brought to his notice that the office of zone number 1 of HDMC was operating in a commercial building that did not have completion certificate.

The commissioner enquired with the concerned officer and found that the building did not hold the certificate. Mr. Manivannan asked them why the guidelines issued by the Corporation for selecting office premises were not followed, and ordered issue of show cause notice to three senior officers.

Notices have been issued to Mathad, the former Joint Commissioner, the Zonal Assistant Commissioner and Executive Engineer of HDMC, Dharwad.
