Dhaval scalps six

MUMBAI: Medium-pacer Dhaval Kulkarni justified Vijay Manjrekar XI skipper Omkar Gurav's decision to field first with a six-wicket burst as Vijay Merchant XI was restricted to 159 in a second round match of the Sportstar Trophy MCA selection trial tournament (under-19) at the Elf Vengsarkar Ground on Wednesday.

Opener Swapnil Salvi top-scored with 65, but did not get adequate support from teammates. At stumps on day one, Manjrekar XI was 63 for four.

In another match at the Karnatak ground, Swapnil Kuley held the middle-order together with a strokeful 74 (104 balls, 12 fours) as Khandu Rangnekar XI was bowled out for 186 in 74.4 overs after opting to bat. Left-arm medium-pacer Balkrishna Shirke scalped four wickets.

At Karnatak Ground, Cross Maidan: Khandu Rangnekar XI 186 in 74.4 overs (Rohan Bhosale 25, Swapnil Kuley 74, Balkrishna Shirke four for 27) vs Dattu Phadkar XI 18 for two in 6.5 overs.
