Traders block road to protest killing

Patna: Over a hundred businessmen and shop employees on Wednesday blocked the busy Buddha Marg and burnt tyres protesting against the killing of two brothers, who worked at a readymade garment shop at a shopping arcade here on Tuesday, forcing the police to make a mild lathicharge.

The police said that the shopkeepers and employees assembled on the Buddha Marg near Ashok cinema after the bodies of two brothers Mohd Raza and Mohd Shahid were recovered from a lodge on Qutubuddin Lane under Pirbahore police station here last evening.

They burnt tyres and raised anti-administration slogans demanding immediate arrest of the killers and adequate compensation for the bereaved family members.

As repeated requests by police officials, including city SP Vikash Vaibhav, asking the agitators to lift the blockade to ensure normal traffic, failed to yield any response, the police used lathis to disperse the crowd.

Around 10 businessmen were taken into custody and brought to the Kotwali police station. They were later released, the police said. -- PTI
