NEW DELHI: A team of senior Municipal Corporation of Delhi leaders on Wednesday inspected various ghats along the Yamuna here in the Capital to review preparations for the upcoming Chhat Puja festival. They took stock of various facilities, including toilets and sanitation, mobile dispensaries, temporary parking and pedestrian paths, being arranged for the large number of devotees who would be visiting the various ghats on October 28 and 29. MCD Standing Committee Chairman J. K. Sharma, Delhi Pradesh Congress president Ram Babu Sharma, MCD's Medical Relief and Public Health Committee head Ramesh Dutta, MLA Mahabal Mishra and senior Councillor Brij Mohan Sharma visited the ghats along with MCD Additional Commissioner Parimal Rai. Mr. Sharma directed officials of various departments to properly coordinate while making preparations so that adequate facilities could be provided to the large number of residents from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh in the Capital who celebrate this annual festival. The civic body officials were asked to complete the preparation work on a war footing. The inspection team gathered at the Yamuna Ghat near Kashmere Gate and inspected various ghats along the river. It also visited ghats near Wazirabad, Qudsia Garden, Chandgiram Akhara, ITO and Kalindi Kunj. Mr. Ram Babu Sharma directed that mobile dispensaries be deployed by the Health Department so that devotees could be provided proper medical care in case of an emergency.
