"Achieving Bharat Nirman target priority"

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Minister of State for Rural Development Chandra Shekhar Sahu on Wednesday said that his endeavour would be to achieve the targets fixed under the `Bharat Nirman' Programme.

Talking to reporters after assuming office, Mr. Sahu said his Ministry was implementing three major projects under the Bharat Nirman Programmes namely rural connectivity, provision of shelter and drinking water and sanitation. Mr. Sahu said he would ensure that the benefits of these programmes reached the downtrodden in the rural areas.

Describing the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act as an important programme of the United Progressive Alliance Government, Mr. Sahu said it would benefit the people living below poverty line.

Mr. Sahu was earlier Minister of State for Labour and Employment.
