Bangalore: Appearances can be deceptive and the soft-spoken 23-year-old Shruti Chandrashekar is the best example of this. Her image of a girl next door hardly reflects her achievement. She is the youngest investment analyst from India at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank in Washington. Earlier, Ms. Chandrashekar worked at Infosys Technologies Ltd., Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Barclays Capital and Mercer Oliver Wyman before joining the IFC. She graduated in Electrical Engineering and Management Sciences at MIT. And for managing all this, Ms. Chandrashekar received the Young Achiever Award -2006 from Governor T.N. Chaturvedi at the banquet hall in Raj Bhavan. Thanking all those who have supported her, the proud achiever said that she was happy about the award as it gave exposure to her accomplishments.
`First award'
"This is my first award that I received without applying or writing some test. That makes me really happy," she said evoking laughter from the audience. Ms. Chandrashekar hoped that it would motivate more youth to achieve greater heights. The Governor said that Ms. Chandrashekar was a role model for young achievers, especially in the field of economics. He said that for achievements such as this, quality education and creating the right environment were crucial. Minister for Higher Education D.H. Shankaramurthy commended Ms. Chandrashekar for her achievements and said that if more youth went on to become as successful, India would achieve greater heights. The Young Achiever award was sponsored by Book Paradise- Chambers Academy.
