NEW DELHI: The international terminal of Indira Gandhi International Airport here witnessed stormy scenes on Wednesday morning when a woman constable of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) alleged that a member of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) housekeeping staff had tried to misbehave with her. The situation got out of hand when her husband -- who also works at the airport and was accompanying her -- proceeded to rough up the accused. The matter would have been resolved amicably with the accused apologising to the constable, but things got worse with some people trying to "unionise" the issue, sources said. "The problem occurred only after some people tried to unionise the issue. The matter would have been solved, but some staff members decided to stage a protest at the office of the duty manager. They threatened to go on strike for about an hour or so. But they backed down because they were worried that the lady constable might report the matter to the police," said an airport official. The AAI Employees' Union claimed that the issue was too trivial and no one had threatened to go on strike.
