dated October 27, 1956: Tributes to Sri Prakasa

Tributes to Mr. Sri Prakasa, Governor of Madras, and to the services he had rendered to the State were paid in the Madras Legislative Council on October 26 by the Chairman, Dr. P.V. Cherian, Mr. M. Bhaktavatsalam, Leader of the House, and several members. Mr. Bhaktavatsalam said that because of States' reorganisation they were losing not only several legislators who had to go to Kerala and Karnataka, but also the Governor, Mr. Sri Prakasa, who was very popular and had been taking a paternal interest in the people of the State. But he had to leave the State for the new Bombay State, where his guidance and services as Governor would be very helpful. The members from Malabar and South Kanara acknowledged the benefits their districts had derived from the Government.
