This Day That Age
Mr. B. Gopala Reddi, Chief Minister of Andhra, submitted his resignation and the resignations of his seven Cabinet colleagues to the Governor, Mr. C.M. Trivedi, on October 26. The Cabinet will, however, continue in office till November 1, when the new Ministry of Mr. N. Sanjiva Reddi will be sworn in at Hyderabad, synchronising with the inauguration of the State of Andhra Pradesh by the Prime Minister. Mr. Gopala Reddi, who has completed 19 months as Chief Minister of Andhra, was first elected to the Madras Legislative Assembly in 1937 and began his career as a Minister in his 29th year. His Ministry was the second in the Andhra State since its formation on October 1, 1953. The first Ministry, headed by Mr. T. Prakasam, went out of office following a no-confidence motion passed against it by the State Assembly.
