LPG stocks adequate: Deora

Special Correspondent

New Delhi: Petroleum Minister Murli Deora has said availability of liquefied petroleum gas is adequate to meet requirements despite Wednesday's fire at the Jamnagar refinery of Reliance Industries Limited.

Panic over this incident is unwarranted as RIL is confident of meeting the entire demand, the Minister told reporters here on Thursday. It was now operating at near-normal capacity, while the country had sufficient stocks to meet any contingency.

Mr. Deora said there might be a slight shortfall in RIL's production for one or two days but the company assured him that it had stocks to meet 9-10 days requirement.

Besides, public sector companies had stocks for 14-15 days.
