Joint Council leader dead

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: M.N.V.G. Adiyodi, prominent leader of State employees and teachers for nearly two decades now, died here on Thursday. He was 56.

Mr. Adiyodi, who was chairman of the Joint Council of State Service Organisations (JCSSO) and a member of the CPI national council, died at a private hospital in the afternoon after battling cancer for the last several weeks. He had served as chairman of the State-controlled Kerala State Pharmacy Council and was a prominent presence in several struggles waged by employees and teachers.

His body was kept at the offices of the Joint Council and Pharmacy Council and the State headquarters of the CPI for public viewing before being taken to Kozhikode for cremation.

In a condolence message, CPI State secretary Veliyam Bhargavan recalled that even while remaining an uncompromising campaigner for the rights of employees and teachers, Mr. Adiyodi had raised his voice against corruption in Civil Services and led several campaigns to cleanse it.
