Andhra Bank first half net up 21 p.c.
HYDERABAD:
Andhra Bank has reported a net profit of Rs. 262.85 crore during the first half of the current financial year ended September 30, 2006. This is 20.5 per cent higher than Rs. 218.06 crore registered during the corresponding period last year. The operating profit went up by 19.1 per cent to Rs. 429.59 crore from Rs. 360.62 crore while interest income increased by 22.3 per cent to Rs. 1,531.99 crore from Rs. 1,252.54 crore. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, K. Ramakrishnan, Chairman and Managing Director, said the bank's total income during the period increased to Rs. 1,762.49 crore from Rs. 1,447.66 crore. The bank's business increased to Rs. 56,113 crore, of which gross credit had risen from Rs. 28,869 crore to Rs. 32,513 crore.
