Additional wheat for APL

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Centre has made an ad hoc additional allocation of one lakh tonne of wheat to States and Union Territories for the Above Poverty Line families under the Targeted Public Distribution System for November. This is in addition to one lakh tonne each of wheat released for August and September.

The Ministry of Food has asked States to keep a strict vigil to ensure that APL wheat allocation was distributed as per procedure to ration cardholders to avoid "leakage or diversion."
