CUDDALORE: The critical remarks made against each other by the AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa and DMDK founder Vijayakant has created mutual recrimination among their supporters in Cuddalore and Villupuram districts. At least two incidents of effigy burning were reported on Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of 17 persons. A group of DMDK men burnt the effigy of Ms. Jayalalithaa at Ginjee cross-roads. The police arrested Bharath Kumar, town secretary, and 15 others. At Vriddhachalam, an AIADMK functionary Govindan burnt the effigy of Mr. Vijayakant at the bus stand. The police arrested him also.
