Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: DuPont India, the fully-owned subsidiary of the U.S.-based $27-billion E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, on Thursday announced the launch of its new business initiative, DuPont Building Innovations.

This business, according to the DuPont India Executive Director, Jagdish Kumar, will offer building solutions, products and innovations for the Indian construction industry.

"Following our global strategy of `Go where the growth is' and `Putting science to work' by using `Power of One DuPont,' we have identified the building and construction segment in India as a key sector that will drive our company's strategic growth in this country,'' he said at Interbuild India 2006 conference and exhibition here.

With the new initiative, DuPont Building Innovations was set to bring into the country products that are suited to Indian construction methods and weather conditions and products to provide safer, more durable insulation to buildings, to enhance the life of concrete and to waterproof water-retaining structures. In the pipeline were more products that, with suitable modifications, could address major issues faced by builders in India, he said.
