Rupee ends higher

MUMBAI: The rupee ended sharply higher against the U.S. currency at 45.2550/2650 a dollar following smart gain in stock prices after the U.S. Fed decided not to increase interest rates.

In active trading at the interbank foreign exchange market here on Thursday, the rupee started the day on a firm note at 45.30/31, but later fell to a low of 45.3300. However, it recovered smartly to 45.2400 and ended at 45.2550/2650 a dollar, firmer than the previous close of 45.3650/3750. — PTI
