Sensex recovers 75 points
MUMBAI:
The Sensex recouped part of the recent losses as firm trend in global bourses and the U.S. Federal Reserve's decision to keep the interest rates unchanged triggered fresh buying. Short covering in derivatives due to expiry of October contracts also boosted sentiment. The 30-share BSE index jumped 75.13 points to 12698.41. The S & P CNX Nifty added 20.25 points.Bank shares witnessed buying. Reliance Industries dropped 1.2 per cent to Rs. 1,179 in volatile trading. Doubts ran high that the blaze at the Jamnagar refinery on Wednesday, might impact production. Software shares rose on renewed buying.
