GUNTUR: Guntur will have a state-of-the-art cancer hospital to be managed by Bangalore Institute of Oncology in the next six to eight months, while a similar hospital is ready for inauguration at Vijayawada.
Expansion
The institute-run Health Care Global Cancer Hospital of Bangalore proposed to expand its area of operation by providing each of its outstation centres with latest equipment to treat cancer patients, its managing director and vice-chairman Ganesh Naik told reporters here on Thursday. Currently, five centres were running all over the country, while it proposed to expand the network to 13 in one year, he said, adding that local physician network would be utilised for the purpose. Refusing to divulge the names, he said the centre in Vijayawada would be inaugurated soonb, the one in Kadapa near RIMS was coming up fast. The team of Health Care Global had come to Guntur and Hyderabad to identify partners and location to open a 30-bed hospital in Guntur with an investment of Rs. 30 crores. Vajram Group of Industries managing director Vajram Chandrasekhar said that they were partnering with the HCG to set up the hospital in Kadapa and Guntur.
Location
The hospital in Guntur would be located either between Guntur and Chilakaluripet or Guntur and Vijayawada on the National Highway No.5 with the Linear Accelerator Radiation machine installed along with surgical and medical oncology wings. The premier oncology institute proposed to open two centres in Sri Lanka and Kathmandu.
