Hubli to host `Classmate Young Author and Artist Contest'

It is among the 34 cities where ITC Ltd. is holding the event

  • The winner will get a seven-day trip to Paris

    HUBLI: Hubli has been included in the select group of 34 cities where ITC Ltd. is holding its "Classmate Young Author and Artist Contest" for 2006.

    Opportunity

    While the "Young Author Contest" provides an opportunity for students of fifth standard to 12th standard to present their skills in creative writing, the "Young Artist Contest" gives them the canvas to bring out their artistic expressions, Chand Das, Chief Executive, ITC Greeting, Gifting and Stationary Business, said in a press release issued here on Thursday.

    The competition was held in 15 cities, and looking at the response this time, it had been extended to 19 more cities, he said.

    Besides, the "Classmate Young Artist Contest" was being held simultaneously so that the students could participate in a national competition, he said.

    For the first time, a special on the campus "Classmate Day" would be held in select schools in these cities. Basel Mission School and St. Michael's School in Hubli had been selected for the purpose this time, he said.

    Festive atmosphere

    This concept had been designed to create a festive atmosphere on the school campus to learn, explore, enjoy and connect to literary and art world, Mr. Das said.

    Writer Ruskin Bond would be the head of the national jury of the "Young Author Contest", and would edited a book comprising 16 best stories from the contest, which would be published by Roopa and Company, he said.

    The winner of the contest would get a seven-day literary trip to Paris and all the finalists from various cities would get attractive prizes, he said.
