Al Ameen College wins

BANGALORE: Al Ameen College downed Mico Naganathpura in straight sets at 25-23, 25-19, 25-19 in just 50 minutes to lift the State `B' division volleyball league title. Both the teams earned promotion to `A' division.

At the Sree Kanteerava Stadium outdoor court here on Thursday, Mico looked mediocre against the Al Ameen side, thanks to some superb spiking by Maruthi and Joby.

Earlier, MEG `B' beat Taurians SC 25-16, 25-22, 25-17. B.K. Shivaram, ACP, CCB, Bangalore was the chief guest and gave away the prizes.

BPCL pips ONGC

BPCL shocked ONGC 4-3 in the final of the third PSPB inter-unit snooker championship at the KSBA hall here.

Manan Chandra stunned Pankaj Advani 2-0, winning 70-43, 85-10 to set the ball rolling. Devendra Joshi was tied 1-1 against Alok Kumar (59-60, 70-50), but BPCL lost its initiative in the best of seven frames final when Anuja Thakur lost both her frames to young Sourav Kothari (ONGC) at 21-59, 8-67.

In the decider, it was Manan Chandra again who won a close 63-44 win over Sourav Kothari to clinch the title for BPCL.

Dominic, Samuel shine

G. Dominic and Samuel Niranjan struck a brace each to guide SAI `B' to a 6-1 win over RBI in a Deccan Herald State `A' division hockey league match at the KSHA Stadium here. Nitin Thimaiah and Anand also scored for the victor while Roshan scored for RBIl.

Other results: Postal 4 (Taranath 2, Nagaraj and Adarsh Ganapathy) bt Bombers 1 (Raju).

Tennis tournament

Archery trials
