NGOs' help sought in mid-day meal programme

HYDERABAD: Secretary, Education, P. Krishnaiah, has urged voluntary agencies to contribute their mite to the running of the mid-day meals programme of the State Government.

He was speaking after launching the `Reading Skill Improvement Programme in Telugu', brought out for the first time in India for students in Government primary schools by the Christian Children's Fund (CCF).

CCF has implemented Bala Deepika in five districts of the State. It involves Bala Deepika - STAG (Skill Targeted Academic Growth), a tool kit to enhance reading and comprehension skills.

The kit has a user manual and a set of 191 Reading Skill Improvement cards systematised by 25 years of experimentation, said Manoj Kitta, Education Specialist, CCF.
