Duleep Trophy: Central to meet North Zone

Jamshedpur: Central Zone is all set to take on a star-studded North Zone in its second encounter of the Duleep Trophy cricket tournament at the Keenan Stadium here from Friday.

On paper, North Zone looks favourite, but Central, led by J.P. Yadav, has some quality batsmen who would like to take advantage of a batting-friendly Keenan wicket.

Without Test cricketers Gautam Gambhir and Ashish Nehra, the Mithun Manhas-led North Zone had a rigorous net session on Thursday afternoon.

In the drawn match against East at Gwalior, Central could not do justice to its potential as many of its batsmen fell cheaply.

It will have to put up a good show to earn some points against a powerful North Zone, consisting of players like Gambhir, Akash Chopra, V.R.V. Singh and Nehra. — PTI
