`Kodiyeri creating misunderstanding'

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The senior Congress MLA Aryadan Mohammed on Thursday accused Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan of deliberately creating a misunderstanding over the contentious intelligence report referred to in the Marad Commission report.

Mr. Balakrishnan had said in his reply in the Assembly that such a report was available with the Intelligence wing of the police department. The Opposition wanted him to clarify whether there was any record showing that the former Chief Minister A. K. Antony had seen it.

Mr. Mohammed, addressing a press conference along with other UDF leaders after the Opposition boycott in the Assembly, said that the matter was deliberately raked up in the House on the last day of its sitting creating a misunderstanding about Mr. Antony's positions. He said the Home Minister repeatedly stated that he was referring to the intelligence report that came up before the commission during the hearings. However, the contentious report did not have any validity as the Inspector General of Police or the ADGP (intelligence) had not accepted it.
