MUMBAI: Medium-pacer Rahul Vengsarkar came up with his second five-wicket haul to earn Vijay Merchant XI a slender 17-run first-innings lead over Vijay Manjrekar XI in the Sportstar Trophy MCA selection trial under-19 tournament second round match on Thursday. Merchant XI was 191 for seven in its second innings at close on the second day of the three-day event. Brijesh Pujari (45) and Nikhil Mandle (41) were the main contributors.
The scores: At Elf Vengsarkar ground: Vijay Merchant XI 159 & 191 for seven (Swapnil Salvi 27, Brijesh Pujari 45, Nikhil Mandle 41, Gaurav Chavan 29, Oninder Gill three for 55) vs Vijay Manjrekar XI 142 (Omkar Gurav 31, Rahul Vengsarkar five for 60). At Karnatak ground: Khandu Rangnekar XI 186 & 37 for no loss vs Dattu Phadkar XI 279 (Sushant Khaire 135, Sanket Chavan 30, Ganesh Narsumaiya three for 66). Special Correspondent
