Hassan to host fairs in November

  • Experts to visit Hassan and conduct health check-ups

    HASSAN: Hassan city will witness a series of "melas" (fairs) in November. The district administration will be holding Krishi, Arogya, employment melas from November 2 to 8 to help the farmers, who are in distress, poor people and unemployed youngsters, in the district, according to the Minister for Public Works and Energy, H.D. Revanna.

    Mr. Revanna was here on Thursday to participate in a meeting organised by the district administration to redress the grievances of Below Poverty Line beneficiaries. He said the newly-built Ambedkar Bhavan would be inaugurated on November 2 and the newly opened Government medical and agricultural college would be inaugurated on November 3. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Hassan MP, H.D. Deve Gowda are expected to participate in the programme.

    Krishi Mela would be held for two days from November 3, to educate farmers on the modern techniques in the field of agriculture. In this "agriculture and agriculture-based industries fair", farmers would be given information on latest developments in the field.Similarly, an Arogya Mela (health fair) would be organised for two days from November 5.

    Experts would visit Hassan and conduct health check-ups. A special camp would be conducted for the members of Stree Shakthi Self Help Groups on November 7, to create awareness on the facilities available for them in financial institutions.

    An employment fair would be conducted on November 8 to guide unemployed youth, he added.
