PRATAPGARH (UP): Samajwadi Party Member of Parliament Jaya Prada on Thursday came out in support of the controversial Uttar Pradesh Food and Civil Supplies Minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya saying he was being defamed by those unhappy with the welfare work he has taken up in the area. ``The opponents of Raja Bhaiya are unsettled by the welfare and development works being undertaken by him in the area and therefore are out to defame him by branding him a `goonda','' said Jaya Prada, who was here to campaign for her party nominees in the upcoming civic polls, at a public meeting in the presence of Raja Bhaiya.
The actress-turned-MP said she had chosen a political party which was ``working in the interests of the poor
She also cited the various works initiated by Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh to underline the Government's thrust on welfare of the deprived and downtrodden. - PTI
