HYDERABAD: Ghazal lovers in city can now tune to Radio City 91.1 FM as it unveils a new show, `Shaam-e-Ghazal' every Sunday from October 29. The hour-long show will feature ghazal singer Roop Kumar Rathod at 8 p.m. as the Radio Jockey. The show promises to be an interesting blend of ghazals, mushairas and `on-air' performance by the maestro himself. Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, Mr. Rathod said that for the first time in the history of FM radio, a show was completely dedicated to ghazals to give the genre the much- needed recognition. "The concept is unique and exciting. I am thrilled as this is my first on radio," he said.
Contest for listeners
Shaam-e-Ghazal also presents a unique opportunity for listeners to participate in a contest whereby they get a chance to send an interesting ghazal/shayari and win a music CD signed by Roop Kumar Rathod, according to Mr. Rama Barua, Head, Marketing, Radio City. He said Radio City pioneered the trend of celebrity RJs with `Life Ki Dhun with Sonu Nigam'. Another four-week extravaganza, Musical-E-Azam - Naya Andaz, will be presented to the listeners soon, Mr. Barua said.
