HYDERABAD: Visuals recorded by concealed cameras helped police catch two women while they were allegedly stealing a gold ring from a jewellery shop at Malakpet on Thursday. The arrested women, S. Kala, 45, and her daughter, S. Shruthi, 22, had earlier stolen 10 gold bangles weighing 14 tolas from the same shop in the guise of customers, Malakpet police Sub-Inspector A. Sreenivasa Rao said here. All the stolen bangles were recovered from their house in Vikasnagar of Saroornagar. Kala's husband Ravi Reddy is a realtor.
Caught in the act
A week ago, Kala and her daughter came to J.C. Brothers shop at Malakpet and purchased two gold bangles. After the duo left the shop, the salesman realised that 10 bangles were stolen. While examining pictures captured by the secret cameras, the shop staff found the two women removing bangles by hoodwinking the salesman. The two women came to the shop again on Wednesday saying they wanted to purchase some gold rings. A salesman grew suspicious on seeing one of the women taking out a ring on display. He checked the handbags of the women only to find a gold ring hidden inside and called the police. During interrogation, the women confessed to the theft of bangles committed earlier.
