KOCHI: Container Terminal Road Action Committee, Cheranalloor, has said no bypass should be allowed at Kalamassery and that reclaiming of backwaters should not be carried out, as it would be a violation of the coastal regulation zone rules. A press release from the committee said on Thursday that the indefinite evening dharna organised by the Container Road Samyukta Samithi entered the 23rd day on Wednesday. The press release demanded that Cochin Port's decision to extend the port area up to Cheranalloor be withdrawn. The committee said `pokkali' fields should not be reclaimed and that survey stones should not be destroyed. It said the projects should be envisaged keeping in mind the carrying capacity of Moolampally, Kothad and Cheranalloor. The committee called for evolution of a comprehensive rehabilitation programme.
