307 flights a week from Kochi airport in winter schedule

Air-India has not made any increase in operations, retains all services

NEDUMBASSERY: Flight services from the Cochin International Airport are set to register a marginal increase during the forthcoming winter schedule which will be in force for the period from October 29 to March 27, 2007.

During the period there will be a total of 307 services in a week - 141 international services and 166 domestic services.

Air-India has not effected any increase in operations and retains its 22 weekly services. The national carrier will operate two services in a week to Dammam and Kuwait and four services a week to Doha-Bahrain. One weekly service will be operated to Riyadh.

The airline will operate eight services a week, including two services on Sundays, to Mumbai. This early morning service predominantly serves international passengers taking connection flights to various European and American destinations from Mumbai.

Besides these, there will be three services in a week to Thiruvananthapuram and two to Mumbai via Chennai, which are mainly international flights hoping over to these destinations after completing their international operations at Kochi.

Air India Express, the no frills-subsidiary of Air-India, has increased its Sharjah services to thrice in a week from the current single service. The budget carrier will operate eight services a week to Dubai, four to Abu Dhabi, which is routed via Thiruvananthapuram, and one each to Muscat, Salala and Al-Alain. Besides, there will be four services a week touching Kozhikode and one service to Mumbai.

Indian, the other public carrier, is set to operate daily service to Sharjah and Doha-Bahrain, which will be routed via Kozhikode, three to Muscat and two services a week to Kuwait. The airline will also operate to Mumbai via Kozhikode four times a week, besides which there will be hopping flights connecting Chennai eight times a week, of which three will be routed via Coimbatore.

Among the foreign carriers, SriLankan Airlines will be operating the most number of services with 11 flights in a week to Colombo.

Oman Air, Silk Air, Emirates and Gulf Air will operate daily services to Muscat, Singapore, Dubai and Muscat respectively. Kuwait Airways and the Tehran-based Mahan Air will operate four services a week. Qatar Airways will operate five services in a week to Doha and Saudi Arabian Airlines will fly thrice a week to Riyadh.

The Sharjah-based budget carrier Air Arabia will operate daily service while the other foreign budget carrier Jazeera will operate to Kuwait thrice in a week.

In the domestic sector, Indian will operate 20 services; six services in a week to Agatti and daily services to Delhi, via Mumbai, and Bangalore, via Thiruvananthapuram. Jet Airways will operate the most number of domestic services from the Kochi airport with three daily services to Mumbai, two daily services to Bangalore and a daily service to Chennai; a total of 42 services. The UB Group-promoted Kingfisher Airlines is second in the list with 35 services in a week; two daily services each to Bangalore and Chennai and a daily service to Delhi via Mumbai.

The budget carrier Air Deccan will operate 34 services in a week with two daily services to Bangalore, a daily service each to Mumbai and Chennai and six services a week to Hyderabad.

Air Sahara will fly daily in the Delhi-Kochi-Thiruvananthapuram-Delhi and Delhi-Hyderabad-Kochi-Delhi sectors. Paramount Airways, besides operating its daily service to Chennai, is set to launch a daily service to Hyderabad the winter season. The Wadiya Group-promoted Go Air will operate a daily service to Mumbai routed via Coimbatore.
