BMP warns contractors against child labour

Bangalore: Stung by reports on child labourers being used in the construction of its building in Banashankari III Stage, the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) has said that it would blacklist contractors and engineers found employing children at construction sites.

The BMP has warned contractors that employing children under 14 years of age would amount to violation of contract rules.

On Wednesday, Bangalore Oniyavara Seva Coota (BOSCO) activists and the Labour Department rescued seven children working at a construction of a sports complex of BMP.
