West Indies enters semi-finals

Special Correspondent

AHMEDABAD: West Indies booked its spot in the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy with a three-wicket win over India in a Group `A' match on Thursday. Brian Lara's side reached the target of 224 with two balls to spare.

The defeat leaves India in a must-win situation against Australia in its final league encounter on Sunday.

The West Indies effort was helped by half-centuries from Shivnarine Chanderpaul (51) and Ramnaresh Sarwan (53). Runako Morton, who made 45, added a crucial 92 with Sarwan for the fourth wicket. Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was the pick of India's bowlers with figures of one for 27 off 10 overs.

Earlier, wicketkeeper M.S. Dhoni compiled a 65-ball 51 to prop up India's innings after Lara elected to field. Captain Rahul Dravid made 49 before being run out. Left-armer Ian Bradshaw claimed three wickets for West Indies.
