Paddy procurement centres to be opened

Krishnagiri: In view of the ensuing Kharif marketing season (Kuruvai 2006 - Samba 2007), Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) will open paddy procurement centres in Krishnagiri, Pochampalli, Uthangkarai, Hosur and Denkanikottai taluks during the first phase.

Timings

In a statement here on Friday, Collector Santhosh Babu said the procurement centres would be open from 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

The State Government had fixed the procurement rate of Grade 1 paddy at Rs. 610 a quintal and Rs. 580 for coarse variety. In addition, Rs. 40 would be provided as incentive for every quintal.

The Collector has asked farmers to sell their produce at the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation, the release said.
