HYDERABAD: Finance Minister K. Rosaiah said here on Friday that all the promises made by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy during his district tours "will be fulfilled by all means". He sought to dispel apprehensions that these promises would be forgotten soon after the visits.Speaking to reporters after the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the revenue receipts and expenditure made during the first six months of this fiscal up to September-end, the Minister said separate head of account was being maintained in line with the allocations made in the budget to implement these promises.
No fresh tax
Mr. Rosaiah said the Government had no plan to introduce any fresh tax or enhance the existing ones. Bound by the Fiscal Responsibility & Budget Management Act, it was exercising caution and cutting down expenditure wherever possible. Yet, there was "no dearth of funds" to implement welfare schemes. He said in line with a projection made in the budget, vacant Government lands would be auctioned through the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority, the Housing Board and APIIC to mobilise funds.
