THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The United Democratic Front (UDF) has strongly protested against the Left Democratic Front Government's moves to institute either a Vigilance inquiry or a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)probe against its former Ministers. In a statement here on Friday, UDF convener P. P. Thakachan said the moves were politically motivated and aimed at creating an impression that UDF leaders were corrupt. The former Finance Minister Vakkom Purushotaman, the former Revenue Minister K. M. Mani, the former Electricity Minister Kadavoor Sivadasan and former Food and Civil Supplies Minister G. Karthikeyan had by now come under the LDF's charges.
`Political vendetta'
Mr. Thankachan said the LDF Government's action was nothing but `political vendetta' and was a response to the UDF Government's decision to refer the SNC Lavalin case to the CBI.
