Harjinder on song

NEW DELHI: Harjinder Singh scored four goals as Government High School, Harwandaspura, Jalandhar beat Union Academy Senior Secondary School 6-3, after being 2-2 at halftime in a pool 'A' match of the ONGC 24th Nehru sub-junior hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Friday.

Karanpal Singh and Jaswinder Singh scored the other goals for the Jalandhar team. Umesh Kumar (2) and Kuldeep were the marksmen for the loser.

In pool 'D', Sarvodaya Co-education Senior Secondary School, Singhu, pipped Model School, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana 3-2 after leading 2-1 at halftime. Amit (2) and Ranvir scored for the winner, while Gagandeep Singh and Tarandeep Singh scored a goal each to keep the Ludhiana in the fight till the end.

In pool 'C', Government High School, Maqsudan beat NCC Directorate, Jalandhar 3-0 after being locked goalless at halftime. Manjinder Singh (2) and Mansukhdeep Singh accounted for the goals. — Special Correspondent
