SCR to meet Artillery in summit clash

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway and Artillery Centre entered the final of the C. Narsi Reddy memorial, prize money basketball tournament at Reddy Hostel here on Friday.

In the first semifinal, SCR scored a comfortable 74-41 win against AP Police after leading 41-18 at the break. Prasad (26) was the top-scorer with good support from Liju Abraham (17) for the winner while Ramesh (22) and Nageshwar Rao (12) played well for the loser.

In the other semifinal, Artillery Centre scored a 77-59 win against State Bank of India after leading by a slender margin of 31-28.

Bipin Barla (23) and Pradeep (14) were the main scorers for the victor. Veteran and former international Harikrishna Prasad (14) and P.B.Srinath (13) shone for the vanquished.

In the sixth Anantha Narayana Reddy and Rameshwaramma memorial State-ranking table tennis tournament at Anand Nagar Welfare Association Academy (Khairtabad), Gautham Krishna of Guntur defeated Ganesh (AWASA) 11-5, 11-4, 11-7 in the cadet boys' pre-quarterfinal.

Kasturba wins

Kasturba College won the Junior inter-colleges volleyball tournament for women defeating Bhavan's College 20-25, 25-15, 15-17 in the final at Musheerabad Playground here. Rajani, Uma Upendra and Sujatha combined well while for the loser, Rachita put up a good show.
