Bangalore: Madras Engineering Group (MEG), powered by a brace each by Samson and Preethi Shetty, defeated Bombers 6-1 in the Deccan Herald State `A' division hockey league at the KSHA Stadium here on Friday. Kiran Kariappa and Monappa also scored for MEG, while Raju's 25th-minute effort was the lone strike for Bombers. Other results: RWF 3 (Ravi Kumar, Jitin Kalappa, Sampath) bt RBI 0; HAL 2 (Chinappa, Chandribaba) bt FHC 1 (Dharmender).
Double for NLSIU
Host National Law School India University (NLSIU) won the men's and women's basketball titles in the Spiritus inter-law college sports fest here on Thursday. The results (finals): Basketball: Men: NLSIU bt University Law College, Bangalore 53-51; Women: NLSIU bt University Law College, Bangalore 23-4. Tennis: Men: NLSIU `A' bt NLSIU `B'; Chess: Govt. Law College, Mumbai bt NLSIU; Table tennis: Women: NLSIU bt BMS 3-2.
Ramaiah memorial TT
The annual M.S. Ramaiah memorial State-ranking table tennis championship will be conducted by the Bangalore Rural District Table Tennis Association at the Canara Union here from Saturday.
Six from State for Asian meet
Six players from Karnataka have been selected to represent the country in the Asian taekwondo (ITF) championship, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from November 9 to 14. They include Pradeep, Harish Kumar, Siddanth, Naveen Raj, Ramamurthy and Gunasekaran.
Corporate tournaments
An inter-corporate table tennis and carom tournament will be held at the KSRTC Sports Complex here in November. Eventures will conduct the event.
