CHANDIGARH: Haryana Minister of State for Forests and Tourism Kiran Choudhry said on Friday that the Haryana Government had taken several initiatives for empowering women to ensure their participation in the State's development. Addressing a district level conference of women representatives, anganwadi workers and representatives of various self-help groups under the Women Empowerment Campaign at Bhiwani, she said that women were an integral part of the society and their contribution was necessary for all-round development of the State. She said the State Government had implemented many schemes for uplifting the status of women and checking the falling sex ratio. Separate toilets were also being constructed for women in villages and sports tournaments were being organized for them at block level. She added that a three-day free health camp would be organised to mark the birth anniversary of her late husband, former Haryana Agriculture Minister Surender Singh, at Bhim Stadium in Bhiwani on November 15. The camp would be inaugurated by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and presided over by Union Law and Justice Minister Hansraj Bhardwaj.
