Govt. for NBW against ex-Minister

PATNA: The Bihar Government on Friday moved court for issue of non-bailable warrants against former RJD Minister Jagdanand Singh and three top civil servants for allegedly transferring land in a wildlife sanctuary to a state-owned reservoir in Kaimur district.

Forest Conservator S K Singh filed the criminal complaint in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Sushma Sinha and asked it to issue warrants against the three as the offences committed by them were non-bailable in nature, Bihar's Principal Chief Wildlife Warden M J Mishra said.

The civil servants named are G S Kang, who retired as Chief Secretary on September 30, Water Resources Secretary H C Sirohi and Energy Secretary V Jaishankar. The four persons have been charged with illegally transferring 5.44 acres of Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary to the Durgawati reservoir project in the home district of former Water Resources Minister Jagdanand Singh, now the MLA from Ramgarh.

The complainant alleged that the four persons had violated the Indian Wildlife Protection Act and Indian Forest Conservation Act. .- PTI
