Trade union leader killed, militant released

SRINAGAR: A bandh call by separatist leaders to observe Friday as `black day' evoked a mixed response in the Kashmir valley. While commercial establishments, offices, schools and banks remained closed, the movement of traffic was affected partially.

A complete bandh was also observed in Anantnag and Pulwama districts, though in the districts of Baramulla and Kupwara the situation was near normal.

The call for the bandh was given by separatist leaders including APHC (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani, chairman of the Mirwaiz-led faction of the APHC, Moulvi Umar Farooq.
