Book presented to the President

NEW DELHI: President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was on Friday presented with a copy of his new book, "Hum Honge Kamyab", written by him in a question-and-answer format. The book has been published by Prabhat Prakashan.

Speaking about the book, Dr. Kalam said it was an outcome of his discussions with more than 8 lakh students and youth. ``Specially the students will find it very useful. To make it affordable to the common readers, Prabhat Prakashan has done commendable work by keeping the price Rs.60 only."

Translated by Subhankar Mishra, the book focuses on Dr. Kalam's dream to make India a developed country.

`Phool Walon Ki Sair' festival begins

NEW DELHI: Delhi Lieutenant-Governor B.L. Joshi on Friday said that the Phool Walon Ki Sair festival signifies communal harmony and national integration.

Speaking at Raj Nivas here at the commencement of the annual historic festival of "Sair-e-Gul-Faroshan", Mr. Joshi said sentiments of solidarity were essential for the country's progress.

The eight-day festival began with a shehnai recital and presentation of an embroidered "Pankha' that depicts communal harmony by Anjuman-Sair-e-Gul-Faroshan to the Lt-Governor.

`Pankha' presented to Mayor

NEW DELHI: Delhi Mayor Farhad Suri was on Friday presented a "pankha" of flowers as an invitation to the historic "Phool Walon Ki Sair" fair by its organisers, "Anjuman Sair-e-Gul Faroshan". The three-day fair will begin here in the Capital on November 2.

Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor described "Phoolwalon Ki Sair" as an effort to foster national unity and communal harmony, which, he said, is the need of the hour.

Territorial Armymen felicitated

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Friday accorded a civic reception to officers and jawans of the Territorial Army. At a function organised at Azad Park opposite Town Hall, Mayor Farhad Suri presented a memento to the Territorial Army on its 57th anniversary.

Exhorting citizens and municipal employees to join the Territorial Army and serve the country, Mr. Suri said that due to its extensive military training and dedicated service the Territorial Army's performance in times of natural calamities like floods and earthquakes had been outstanding.
