Bidar
Staff Correspondent
Bidar: Minister for Women and Child Welfare H.K. Kumaraswamy conducted Janata Darshan to receive public grievances in Bidar on Friday. He received around 500 petitions. However, huge rush prevented him from reacting to any of the applications individually. He said that the State Government was committed to the welfare of women, children and the disabled. He said the Bhagyalakshmi scheme, under which money would be deposited in the name of girl children from poor families, would be implemented with retrospective effect from April 1 this year. Bus passes would be issued to all persons with disabilities in the State very soon. "I have directed officials to ensure this," he said. Most of the petitions were from members of SHGs who wanted the Government to sanction buildings for their weekly meetings. Most of them sought land for the building and funds for construction. Some SHG members asked the Government to permit SHGs to run ration shops. Many physically challenged persons gave petitions seeking tricycles and other equipment. Anganwadi workers raised allegations of corruption against some Government employees.
