Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The University of Kerala will organise a youth festival at Alappuzha in connection with the golden jubilee of the formation of the State.

This was stated by Syndicate member Kadakampalli Surendran at the meeting of the University's senate held here on Friday. It has been decided to collect from each student Rs.10 as their contribution for the `Suvarna Keralam' programme chalked out by the University.

The Senate also approved the annual report and audit report that were read out at today's meeting.

Vice-Chancellor M.K. Ramachandran Nair told the meeting that the issue of constituting the university union was being actively considered by the Syndicate.

The university wishes to conduct college union elections. He said the university will look into the complaint that under the semester system teachers had to work even during holidays.
