KOCHI: A workshop to discuss comprehensive development of the Piravom Assembly constituency will be convened on Tuesday at Valiya Palli Parish Hall, Piravom. The workshop will be inaugurated by Local Administration Minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty at 10 in the morning, according to M.J. Jacob MLA, who addressed a press conference here on Saturday. P.C. Thomas, MP, district panchayat president P.S. Shyla, Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, Local Administration (Rural) Special Secretary S.M. Vijayanand, Local Administration Secretary T.K. Jose, Tourism Director B. Suman, Agriculture Director K.K. Gangadharan and other officials will take part in the seminar. Mr. Jacob said a Rs.7.5-crore project would be earmarked for the development of the Hill Palace, Thripunithura. There were also plans to make available special packages for Kakkoor Kalavayal, Areekkal waterfalls and the Piravom Valiya Palli, considering the tourist attractions of these places. The initial discussions to plan the comprehensive development of the ten panchayats in the Piravom constituency had already been held, Mr. Jacob said. Sustainable development of agriculture, employment-generating ventures and development of basic infrastructure including total housing, power supply, sanitation and drinking water and irrigation would be covered at the seminar.
