Attack on doctor, nurses condemned

Staff Correspondent

Bidar: The State Government Employees Association and the Indian Medical Association have condemned the alleged attack on a doctor and nurses on duty at the District Government Hospital by relatives of a patient who died in the hospital, in Bidar on Friday.

In separate memoranda to the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police, the organisations have demanded immediate arrest of the offenders.

Nagappa of Kumbarwada village was admitted to the hospital on Friday morning in an advanced stage of illness, they said. Duty doctor Vaijanath Biradar and nurses Parvati and Swaroopa Rani attended the case.

Patient dies

However, the patient died of complications, the associations said. When doctors declared his death, his relatives went on a rampage. The doctor and the nurses were attacked.

Such behaviour by the people would bring down the morale of doctors, said the memoranda.

The employees' association threatened to launch an agitation if action was not taken against the guilty immediately.
